David G Wood
David Wood is Managing Director of Plansafe Solutions Ltd. Alongside his role of managing the company he is the company’s registered Expert Witness in Health and Safety, taking instruction from solicitors both sides of the English/Scottish border extending from Aberdeenshire to Kent.
Coming from a background in practical agriculture David joined the Health and Safety Executive in 1976 as an. Agricultural Inspector in the South West of Scotland, one of the first intake to the newly formed HSE.
David’s interests are shooting, fishing, walking, gardening and music, for which he has a wide and varied taste.
Matthew joined Plansafe in 1997, made a Director in 2001 and is a Registered Member of the Association for Project Safety and a Graduate Member of IOSH. His principal role is the management of health and safety consultancy services. This includes assisting clients with creating or reviewing H&S Management Systems, inspection of sites and preparation of reports, bespoke risk/COSHH assessments and undertaking company audits.
Matthew has acted as CDM Co-ordinator for both new build and refurbishment projects of values up to £25m ranging from social housing to private residential, commercial property, new build schools and refurbishment/demolition projects across all sectors. Matthew is qualified to S301 in relation to asbestos and acts as both Technical and QHSE Manager for Plansafe's UKAS accredited ISO 17020:2012 Integrated Management System.
Matthew enjoys hill walking and mountaineering in his spare time as well as occasionally pursuing more extreme activities including rock and ice climbing. He also enjoys more sedate activities such as traveling and reading.
A qualified engineer, Robert previously worked in various management and technical positions, predominantly in machinery installation and relocation, before joining Plansafe in late 2012. Responsible for leading the Engineering Services division together with conducting statutory examinations and proof load testing, Robert is also involved in business development and handles the Plansafe website development and marketing.
Engineering extends beyond Robert’s working environment with the restoration of vintage tractors and machinery being included in his spare-time activities.
Sam has experience in a range of engineering disciplines having worked for many years in the aircraft simulation industry. Previous companies include BAE Systems, Boeing Aircraft and British Airways. As an Engineer Surveyor Sam had most recently been employed with Bureau Veritas, furthering his knowledge of statutory examinations, with a strong emphasis on the relevant legislation.
Sam joined the Plansafe team in 2013 and finds his work to be both satisfying and rewarding, finding Plansafe to be a friendly company who take the interests of their clients very seriously whilst still having the resources required to provide a personal service, tailored to the client’s individual requirements.
After leaving school Michael worked for a construction company where he completed his apprenticeship and became a qualified joiner. After serving eight years as a joiner he progressed onto gaining two years’ experience in the Electrical Industry.
Michael joined Plansafe in September 2013 as a Trainee Asbestos Surveyor. He has obtained his P402 Building Surveys and Bulk Sampling for Asbestos qualification.
Outside of work Michael enjoys going to his local gym and has also started playing golf in his spare time.
Prior to working with Plansafe Solutions Ltd Les was employed by DuPont Teijin Films for 23 years as a Shift Manager. Working with an extremely safety focused, blue chip, company provided Les with extensive experience and knowledge which he was able to put to good use on joining Plansafe.
Les joined the company seven years ago as an Asbestos Surveyor and became the company’s Lead Surveyor and Trainer, helping with the development of its asbestos training programme and the technical aspects of the UKAS accreditation. Les now focuses his time on delivering UKATA certificated asbestos training courses for the company.
A qualified mechanical engineer, Alan has 40 years experience in design, manufacture, proof testing and routine examination of lifting and pressure plant. This includes a seven year period with an international certification society managing an offshore oil and gas contract. His principal hobby is striving to play a clarinet well and helping to run a local jazz and blues club. Maintaining and running a 'Morgan' and a little gardening take care of his remaining leisure time.
